who’s ready to see grumpy sky dragon dad in the remakes (me me me)
Magicant / Eight Melodies - Super Smash Bros 3DS / Wii U
here’re some other monster fite progress gifs that I haven’t posted here! first we’ve got some (in progress) idle animation for foo, second me testing a new method for calculating distance (with accidental bug smooches) and the third is a quick overview of the arena environment inside of maya!
here’re some monster fite progress gifs from the last two days! the first was a bug I ran into that caused the attacking player to disappear off into the sunset and the second was me trying to fix that but instead causing them to rocket backwards so fast that the menu starts to warp. the last is from just a moment ago - currently making more animations!
here’s a playable demo of monster fite to test out the new arena environment and how it looks in the web player! currently trying to decide if it needs more detail or not. give it a go and tell me what you think! (currently players can only move and switch between cameras - you’ll need the unity browser plugin to play)
started putting in plants today! still gotta add a few more, some vines and stuff around pillars, then I gotta work out what I’m gonna put in that far background that’s just a misty blue void right now
today I started working on an arena for monster fite! there’s still a ways to go but I’m really happy with how it’s turning out so far :’) I’ve also started colouring models in a new way that I’ll have to talk about at some point because it’s way easier & more efficient than the way I talked about it my process vid I put up recently
today I re-rigged sweetle since I’ve learnt some new stuff since I rigged em first. means I gotta redo their animations too but that’s not too bad, I can make them a bit better. also now they can blink? and actually show some kind of emotion rather than just a blank stare
here’s a video of me making the model from yesterday! I had people say that they found the last one handy so figured I’d put this one up too.
I wanted to try make a more detailed human model so I had a go at a character of mine. she’s called Roe! some of you might remember her as a sprite :O the model’s a mix between that and this fantastic commissioned design!
in terms of a game scenario I’d imagine her using those gloves a lot. the purple one could switch in and out various powerups where as the orange one is more of a terminal where you can slot in a cube bot that backs up memories… I’ve got a lot of thoughts about this character & game idea! I’ll have to get em all down sometime soon.
I recorded the entire process of making this, I’ll speed it up and post it at some point!
Anonymous asked: considering you make so much content why don't you change your patreon to monthly donations instead of every game finished? i would totally go for that and i think your other supporters would too.
I could! but I think it’d make me feel really guilty whenever I went a few days without making much progress… plus I’d feel shady switching it to monthly with current backers having chosen to pledge for finished games & not every month regardless. thanks for saying you would though! that’s honestly really encouraging. for now I think I’ll leave it as only if I complete a monthly project but next year I’m going to change things I think - I’ve been getting by on savings for last few months but they’ll mostly be gone by then. next year I’d like to work on a bigger project for either half the year or the full thing so I won’t be able to use my current patreon setup for that anyway :O
Since I’ve started posting low poly models I’ve been asked a lot about how I make them. Hopefully this video will clear things up! The first half has me explaining techniques and the second is a 2000x speed recording of me making a more complex model (real time: 5 hours)
